Difluoro­[2-(quinolin-2-yl)phenolato]borane

The title compound, C(15)H(10)BF(2)NO, was synthesized by the reaction of 2-(quinolin-2-yl)phenol and boron trifluoride etherate. The quinoline ring system and the benzene ring are twisted, making a dihedral angle of 8.3 (2)°. In the crystal, π-π inter-actions between the aromatic rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.638 (9) Å] link the mol-ecules into chains propagating in [100].

A simple and efficient synthesis of novel 3-(quinolin-2-yl)- and 3,6-bis(quinolin-2-yl)-9H-carbazoles, utilizing sodium ethoxide as a catalyst via a Friedländer condensation reaction between 3-acetyl-9-ethyl-9H-carbazole or 3,6-diacetyl-9-ethyl-9H-carbazole and β-aminoaldehydes or β-aminoketones is described. N-(4-Chloro­phen­yl)quinolin-2-amine

There is a twist in the title mol-ecule, C(15)H(11)ClN(2), as seen in the dihedral angle of 18.85 (9)° between the quinoline and benzene rings. A short C-H⋯N contact arises from this conformation and the amine H and quinoline N atoms are directed towards opposite sides of the mol-ecule. In the crystal, supra-molecular layers in the ab plane are mediated by C-H⋯π inter-actions.
